Emma Heywood, MSW, RSW
Hello! My name is Emma and I am a registered social worker. I received my undergraduate degree in social work from Toronto Metropolitan University (formally Ryerson University) and I received my masters degree from the University of Toronto with a specialization in children and their families. I chose to focus on this aspect of social work as I have always worked with children and their families in a variety of settings from after-school programs to recreation programs to summer day camps; I have always had a passion for seeing people grow. My professional experience as a social worker has been focused on mental health with the opportunity to practice in several settings as a clinical counsellor for children, adolescents, and adults. I have worked with clients on improving a variety of mental health concerns such as anxiety, mood, and emotion regulation.
My education and work experience have culminated in my ability to develop strong therapeutic relationships where my priority is having a deep understanding of every client and developing a specialized plan of care that is created in collaboration with the client and recognizes systematic challenges, the holistic experience, and individual goals. Whether it be with children, adolescents, or adults; my sessions focus on utilizing inherent strengths and motivations while developing coping strategies to improve mental health and over-all health and well-being. If you or your child would like to improve your mental health in a realistic and meaningful way with the support of a social worker who prioritizes the individual experience, I look forward to hearing from you!
