Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medical practice that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate various physiological processes. The goal of acupuncture is to restore the body's balance and promote natural healing. It has been used for thousands of years in China and is recognized worldwide as an alternative or complementary form of medicine.

Acupuncture treatments are performed by trained practitioners, including naturopathic doctors and acupuncturists, who carefully select the acupuncture points based on the patient's condition and symptoms. The needles used in acupuncture are very thin and are typically inserted just below the skin's surface. The process is generally not painful, though some people may experience mild sensations during needle insertion or manipulation.

Acupuncture has been used to treat a wide range of health conditions, including pain management, stress and anxiety reduction, digestive issues, respiratory problems, fertility and pregnancy support, hormonal conditions, and more.

Acupuncture sessions range from 30-45 minutes. Initial appointments are a little bit longer as a quick assessment is completed before the treatment. Once all the needles have been inserted you are left to relax in a calm and relaxing environment for 20 minutes. Your practitioner will check on you during your appointment.

The number of sessions is dependent on the concern being treated. When starting any acupuncture protocol it is recommended that patients come in one to two times for 4-6 weeks in a row followed by maintenance sessions. Treatment protocols may differ.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

We are now offering cosmetic acupuncture, also referred to as facial acupuncture. This is acupuncture that focuses specifically on an aesthetic condition of the patient, usually concerning the face. Like traditional acupuncture, it involves strategically inserting ultra-thin, sterilized needles into different areas of the skin with the aim of stimulating blood flow.

Other possible benefits of facial acupuncture include: enhanced collagen production, reduced acne, reduced inflammation and jaw tension.
